This is the exciting time of year when you can say, “Today was the coldest day this winter!” everyday.
This was my coldest commute since March! And I was ready. How about you?
My chic attire for a 19 (with windchill I’d say it felt more like 10-15) degree day.
Helmet by Bell, wool hat by Ibex, felted wool bandanna, free-bin wool scarf.
Wicking running tank top/ sports bra by Target, thin wicking long-sleeve layer by REI, light- to medium-weight wool hoodie (gift from my mom), second-hand mittens by Patagonia.
Clothing swap skirt, Terry fleece leggings, Swiftwick tall socks and Gore-Tex booties I “borrowed” from my pal HT, cycling shoes.
Again, not that you asked, but I try to remember to put on a heavy moisturizer and some chapstick on to protect my skin.
I was super toasty on my ride in! I probably should have started a little colder, because my core was pretty sweaty by mile 5. My head and neck were perfect though, and my feet only started to get cold in the last couple of miles. Annnnd first scarffrostbeard of the year! The only thing that I wasn’t happy with were my mittens. Too warm, and kind of tricky braking. If I had the means, I would like some Windstopper mitten shells to go over my regular cycling gloves. I think that would have been perfect for today.
